Fishers area road construction update for the week of June 9

The temperature is warming as summer sinks into the Fishers area and we have a long list of road construction projects.  I recently recorded a podcast featuring city engineers on the road construction summer and information on the city’s sanitary sewer system.  Listen at this link.

BRIGHTSPEED FIBER INSTALLATION

Brightspeed will be installing fiber throughout the following areas: South Avalon Estates, Knoll at Thorpe Creek, Overlook at Thorpe Creek, Woods at Thorpe Creek, and Geist Overlook this week. Work will be conducted in the utility easement behind the sidewalk.

 

STATE ROAD 37 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

State Road 37 and 141st Street

Traffic Switch – Complete

I-465 & I-69
Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months. This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Binford Blvd. will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Blvd. will remain open.

Short-Term Closures
Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 (9PM to 6AM)

  • Westbound 82nd Street closed
  • Westbound I-465 single lane closure for barrier wall movement

Long-Term Closures

  • Ramp from 56th Street to I-465
  • Ramp from Allisonville Road to I-465 eastbound
  • Ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to I-465 westbound

PROJECTS NORTH OF 116TH STREET

 

146TH STREET & ALLISONVILLE ROAD – HAMILTON COUNTY PROJECT 

Hamilton County, Indiana – Please be advised, there will be a change to the traffic phasing beginning at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025. Drivers should expect delays and movement restrictions during the phase switch.

Below is a summary of movement restrictions and anticipated timeframes:

7:00 pm-10:00 pm, June 9th: One lane of traffic for eastbound and westbound 146th Street will be closed within the project limits for placement of temporary pavement markings and adjustments to temporary barrier walls.

10:00 pm, June 9th – 5:00 am, June 10th: The ramps between 146th Street and Allisonville Road will be closed. One lane of traffic for eastbound and westbound 146th Street will be open utilizing the bridge over Allisonville. One lane of traffic for northbound and southbound Allisonville Road will be open under the bridge. Drivers on Allisonville Road should expect a short duration closure near 10:00 pm to remove the traffic signal.

5:00 am – 6:00 am, June 10th: The ramps between 146th Street and Allisonville Road will be reopened. The north and south ends of the roundabout will be closed for placement of temporary pavement markings. Vehicles using the northeast and southwest ramps will be required to turn right onto Allisonville Road.

6:00 am, June 10th: All traffic movements will reopen.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid this intersection during the phase shift and seek an alternate route. If you are unable to utilize an alternate route, please use extreme caution when driving through the work zone. Drivers should expect traffic delays when traveling through the construction zone during these periods.

Anticipated Completion Date: FALL 2025

TRAIL WORK ON LANTERN ROAD 

On the week of June 9, expect periodic lane restrictions on Lantern Road just North of Sunblest Blvd – the contractor will be paving a portion of that trail.

WESTMINSTER AT FISHERS

On the week of June 9 there will be a closure on Traymoore Dr as the contractor will be completing work on the installation of a new sewer. All work weather dependant.

121ST STREET AND HOOSIER ROAD – FUTURE ROUNDABOUT

A full closure is in place at 121st and Hoosier Road for the construction of a roundabout, this will be a 60 day closure. The detour route is 126th Street, Cumberland Road, 116th Street, see map here.

131ST STREET AND HOWE ROAD – FUTURE ROUNDABOUT

A full closure is in place at 131st and Howe for the construction of a roundabout, this will be a 60 day closure. The detour route is Cumberland Road, 141st street, and Promise Road, see map here.

136TH STREET WIDENING – ROAD CLOSURE

There will be a 10 day closure on 136th Street from Prairie Baptist Road to Fire Station #97 beginning on or after June 2

As of Tuesday, April 1, 136th Street between Prairie Baptist Road and Cyntheanne Road has been closed to through traffic as construction begins on the reconstruction of the roadway.  Access to all of the homes and fire station off of 136th Street will be maintained only to eastbound traffic.  Westbound traffic will need to follow the attached detour route.  Access into Hunters Run and Silverton will be off of Prairie Baptist or Cyntheanne Road.  See a map of this closure here.

PROJECTS SOUTH OF 116TH STREET

96TH STREET LANE RESTRICTIONS
As of June 6 drivers can expect lane restrictions as the contractor will be closing the inside lanes for both eastbound and westbound traffic for work on the contruction of the Nickel Plate Trail Bridge. There will be one lane for westbound traffic and two lanes for eastbound.

TRAIL CONSTRUCTION 

Beginning on or after June 23rd, drivers on 106th Street between Cumberland Road and Fall Road should expect lane restrictions from 9 AM to 3 PM due to ongoing trail construction. Please plan for potential delays and exercise caution in this area.

2025 ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT 
As of Monday, May 5th our contractor has begun curb and curb ramp work in the Sawgrass Subdivision. Homeowners will be notified via door hangers prior to any curb reconstruction near their home. After ADA ramp and curb reconstruction is completed, those areas will be restored with topsoil and seed. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to water the seed for the seed to germinate. Prior to road resurfacing, residents will be notified via street signage for street parking restrictions. HERITAGE PARK BRIDGE – TRAIL CLOSURE
The City of Fishers has partnered with the City of Carmel, Clay Township, Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation, Hamilton County, and Delaware Township to connect Heritage Park at White River and Carmel’s Hazel Landing Park with a bridge over White River. This new amenity will provide enhanced connectivity between the two communities, as well as new recreational opportunities for our residents. Click here for an aerial view.
