Summer may be in its final weeks but road construction continues unabated in and around Fishers.  The list is once again long so I would suggest you check the entire listing for any projects that might impact you.

Below is the official listing, as provided by the City of Fishers, for the work week starting Monday, Labor Day, September 1:

GEIST WATERFRONT TRIATHLON

Heads Up, Geist Residents! The exciting Geist Waterfront Triathlon at Geist Waterfront Park is coming up on Sunday, August 31st, starting at 7:30 AM at Geist Waterfront Park. The triathlon will bring out 250-300 athletes, including collegiate women’s teams, to compete in this challenging swim-bike-run event!

Traffic Alert: Expect brief traffic delays as local law enforcement facilitates the race. One northbound lane of Olio Rd between 104th and 113th Street will be closed during the race. STATE ROAD 37 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

State Road 37 and 141st Street

The eastside of 141st St. at SR37 is currently closed for the next phase of construction. Traffic has transitioned to the westside, with SR37 north and southbound lanes remaining open. Please review detour routes to plan ahead during this time. CLEAR PATH IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

I-465 & I-69
Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months. This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Binford Blvd. will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Blvd. will remain open.

The eastbound I-465 ramp to Binford Boulevard is scheduled to close for up to 60 days beginning next Friday night, July 11, as part of the Clear Path 465 project on the northeast side of Indianapolis.  The closure will allow crews to reconstruct the ramp. In addition, lane and ramp closures are scheduled for the weekend of July 11 at the I-465/I-69 interchange for crews to restripe pavement and move concrete barrier wall on Binford Boulevard.

The following closures are scheduled:

60 day closure starting Friday, July 11 at 9 p.m. 

  • Eastbound I-465 ramp to southbound Binford Boulevard closed

Safe Zones enforcement remains active in the Clear Path construction zone. The program uses automated systems to monitor speeds in specified work zones. The goal of the program is to keep workers, drivers, and their passengers safe by reducing excessive speeding and crashes in work zones. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during overnight hours.

BRIGHTSPEED FIBER INSTALLATION

Brightspeed will be installing fiber throughout the following areas: South Avalon Estates, Knoll at Thorpe Creek, Overlook at Thorpe Creek, Woods at Thorpe Creek, and Geist Overlook this week. Work will be conducted in the utility easement behind the sidewalk.
PROJECTS NORTH OF 116TH STREET
146TH STREET & ALLISONVILLE ROAD – HAMILTON COUNTY PROJECT 

Hamilton County, Indiana – Please be advised, beginning on or after Tuesday, August 26, 2025, between the hours of 9AM to 3PM, drivers should expect intermittent ramp closures and additional traffic restrictions around the roundabout for concrete curb construction. The intermittent closures and restrictions are expected to occur daily through September 5, 2025.

Please use extreme caution and follow the posted work zone speed limit while driving through this construction zone.

121ST STREET AND HOOSIER ROAD ROUNDABOUT – NOW OPEN

As of August 6 this roundabout is open to drivers – this continues to be an active construction zone, please proceed with caution. Drivers can expect intermittant lane restrictions.

131ST STREET AND HOWE ROAD – UPCOMING ROAD WORK

As of August 9 this roundabout is open to drivers – this continues to be an active construction zone, please proceed with caution. Drivers can expect intermittent lane restrictions. *On the week of September 1 crews will be working on pavement marking, drivers will see flaggers present directing traffic on the following days:

  • Tuesday, September 2 – from 9am to 3pm
  • Wednesday, September 3 – from 9pm to 6am

136TH STREET WIDENING – ROAD CLOSURE

As of Tuesday, April 1, 136th Street between Prairie Baptist Road and Cyntheanne Road has been closed to through traffic as construction continues on the reconstruction of the roadway.  Access to the homes and Fire Station #97 will be maintained only to eastbound traffic.  Westbound traffic will need to follow the signed detour route.  Access into Hunters Run and Silverton is off of Prairie Baptist Road or Cyntheanne Road.  See a map of this closure here.

PROJECTS SOUTH OF 116TH STREET

96TH STREET LANE RESTRICTIONS

Currently there are two lanes available to drivers Eastbound and Westbound on 96th Street at the Nickel Plate Trail, drivers should watch for intermittent lane restrictions.

Anticipated Completion: November 2025

TRAIL CONSTRUCTION

On the week of September 1 the contractor will continue grading and paving along 106th Street from Hamilton Pass to Mollenkopf Road, this will be followed by concrete work.

The contractor will be continuing grading along west side of Hoosier Rd. Drivers on Hoosier Road (from just north of Blue Meadow Drive to 121st Street) and 106th Street between Cumberland Road and Fall Road should expect lane restrictions from 9 AM to 3 PM due to ongoing trail construction. Please plan for potential delays and exercise caution in this area.

Updates on construction timelines will follow as the contractor refines their schedule. All schedules are weather dependent.

2025 ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT 

On the week of September 1 the contractor will be working on the following:

  • Concrete operations will continue in River Highlands, Sandstone, and Delaware Crossing.
  • Pavement marking operations on the Lantern Road and 106th street roundabout, Cumberland Road, Hoosier Road. Flaggers will be on site from between 9 pm and 6 am.
  • Asphalt base repair work will begin in Sumerlin Trails followed by milling and paving. View map here.
  • The Sunblest Neighborhood – Base repair ongoing and will be followed by milling and paving on the week of September 8, on Ellipse Drive, Kemble Court, and Kenetta Court. View map here.

Downtown Fishers – night work (9pm – 6am)

  • On September 2, the contractor will be conducting asphalt milling operations on the northbound lanes of Commercial Drive from 116th Street to the Nickel Plate Trail Crossing.
  • On September 3, asphalt milling operations will take place on the sounthbound lanes of Commerical Drive from 116th Street to the Nickel Plate Trail Crossing and will be asphalt paving the northbound lanes of Commerical Drive from 116th Street to the Nickel Plate Trail Crossing
  • On September 4, asphalt paving operations will take place on Northbound and Southbound Commercial Drive from 116th Street to Nickel Plate Trail Crossing
  • On September 5, asphalt paving operations Southbound Commercial Drive from 116th Street to Nickel Plate Trail Crossing.

*Night work will include lane restrictions with flaggers*

On the week of September 8 the contractor will be working on the following:

  • Concrete operations will take place in the Grey Eagle neighborhood. View map here.

Homeowners will be notified via door hangers prior to any curb reconstruction near their home. After ADA ramp and curb reconstruction is completed, those areas will be restored with topsoil and seed. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to water the seed for the seed to germinate. Following concrete operations contractors will begin performing asphalt road resurfacing and additional notices will be provided. Residents will also be notified via street signage for street parking restrictions.

HERITAGE PARK BRIDGE – TRAIL CLOSURE

The City of Fishers has partnered with the City of Carmel, Clay Township, Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation, Hamilton County, and Delaware Township to connect Heritage Park at White River and Carmel’s Hazel Landing Park with a bridge over White River. This new amenity will provide enhanced connectivity between the two communities, as well as new recreational opportunities for our residents. Click here for an aerial view.
