Fishers road construction report for the work week starting Monday, October 20

Halloween is not even here yet, but the City of Fishers is already set to prepare for the Christmas season.  Starting October 20, watch for city crews to be installing Christmas lights along 116th Street in the general area of downtown.

That is one of the many updates in the weekly Fishers area road construction report.  Here is the report for the work week starting Monday, October 20, as provided by the City of Fishers:

STATE ROAD 37 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

State Road 37 and 141st Street

*UPDATE*

The eastside of 141st St. at SR37 is currently closed for the next phase of construction. Traffic has transitioned to the westside, with SR37 north and southbound lanes remaining open. Please review detour routes to plan ahead during this time. Thank you for your continued patience and remember to drive cautiously and safely through construction areas.

**Please be advised that there is a restriction in place on the eastside of 141st St. (at Mundy Drive near SR37).  During this phase, access to the east side of 141st St. will be restricted.  This restriction will be in place while crews conduct storm sewer, subgrade treatment, curb construction and pavement work.**

CLEAR PATH IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

I-465 & I-69
Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months. This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Binford Blvd. will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Blvd. will remain open.

Upcoming Short-Term Closures

Drivers can expect the following restrictions:

9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 to 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20 
Ramps from northbound and southbound Keystone Avenue to eastbound I-465 closed
Ramp from eastbound I-465 to Allisonville Road closed
Eastbound I-465 reduced to two lanes between River Road and 82nd Street overpass, then reduced to one lane through Binford Boulevard/I-69
9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 to 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19
Ramp from eastbound I-465 to southbound Binford Boulevard closed
Ramp from eastbound I-465 to northbound I-69 closed
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.

BRIGHTSPEED FIBER INSTALLATION

Brightspeed will be installing fiber throughout the following areas: South Avalon Estates, Knoll at Thorpe Creek, Overlook at Thorpe Creek, Woods at Thorpe Creek, and Geist Overlook this week. Work will be conducted in the utility easement behind the sidewalk.

CHRISTMAS LIGHT INSTALLATION ALONG 116TH STREET

The Department of Public Works will begin Christmas light installation on October 20-22. They will be wrapping the tree trunks in the medians along 116th street. To complete this safely, there will be restrictions in place on the eastbound lane of 116th working one median at a time starting at Cherry Hill Blvd and continuing East to Fishers Center Drive.

PROJECTS NORTH OF 116TH STREET

146TH STREET & ALLISONVILLE ROAD – HAMILTON COUNTY PROJECT 

Hamilton County, Indiana – Please be advised, beginning on or after, Thursday, October 09, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00PM, drivers should expect the southwest ramp at 146th and Allisonville to be closed. Drivers will not be able to access Allisonville Road from eastbound 146th Street.

Additionally, there will be intermittent closures of the south end of the roundabout for concrete deliveries.

Please use extreme caution and follow the posted work zone speed limit while driving through this construction zone.

121ST STREET AND HOOSIER ROAD ROUNDABOUT

As of August 6 this roundabout is open to drivers – this continues to be an active construction zone, please proceed with caution. Drivers can expect intermittent lane restrictions as the contractor finishes up some punchlist items.

Please be advised, this roundabout will be closed for paving operations beginning on Monday, October 13 for one week. Detour signage will be posted to advise drivers. All work is weather dependant. **Anticipated completion by Monday, October 20.**

131ST STREET AND HOWE ROAD – NOW OPEN

As of August 9 this roundabout is open to drivers – this continues to be an active construction zone, please proceed with caution. Drivers can expect intermittent lane restrictions as the contractor finishes up some punchlist items.

136TH STREET WIDENING – ROAD CLOSURE

As of Tuesday, April 1, 136th Street between Prairie Baptist Road and Cyntheanne Road has been closed to through traffic as construction continues on the reconstruction of the roadway.  Access to the homes and Fire Station #97 will be maintained only to eastbound traffic.  Westbound traffic will need to follow the signed detour route.  Access into Hunters Run and Silverton is off of Prairie Baptist Road or Cyntheanne Road.  See a map of this closure here.

PROJECTS SOUTH OF 116TH STREET


SOUTHEASTERN PARKWAY LANE RESTRICTION
Starting on or after Friday, September 19, there will be lane restrictions in place from 9am to 3pm on Southeastern Parkway between 113th Street and Cyntheanne Road. This is for shoulder work and there will be a temporary signal on site. Additionally, on Friday, October 10 there will be a full closure in place at this location that will remain in place until October 20. Access will be maintained to local traffic.

Brightspeed will be continuing ariel work on Southeastern Pkwy from Florida Road to Prairie Baptist Road, please be on the look out for lane restrictions.

 

96TH STREET LANE RESTRICTIONS- UPCOMING OVERNIGHT CLOSURES

Currently there are two lanes available to drivers Eastbound and Westbound on 96th Street at the Nickel Plate Trail, drivers should watch for intermittant lane restrictions.

Anticipated Completion: November 2025

TRAIL CONSTRUCTION

On the week of October 20 the contractor will be pouring foundations and setting pedestrian crossings. Towards the end of the week the contractor will be conducting trail work along 131st Street to complete the trail connection from New Britton Elementary School to the Nickel Plate Trail.

The contractor will be installing a bridge along the along west side of Hoosier Rd followed by milling and paving operations. Drivers on Hoosier Road (from just north of Blue Meadow Drive to 121st Street) and 106th Street between Cumberland Road and Fall Road should expect lane restrictions from 9 AM to 3 PM due to ongoing trail construction. Please plan for potential delays and exercise caution in this area.

**Drivers can expect intermittant lane restrictions as trail work is completed in all of these locations.

2025 ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT 

Ongoing and upcoming Road Resurface updates:

  • Pedestrian signal work and lighting operations on Commercial drive.
  • Restoration work continuing into the week of October 20 in Sandstone.
  • Base repair followed by milling and paving operations continuing into next week in Heritage Meadows will continue into next week, see map here.
  • Base repair followed by milling and paving operations in the Grey Eagle neighborhood. View map here.
  • Concrete work beginning in Plantana on the week of October 20
  • The contractor will be finishing pavement marking operations at Hoosier Rd, Cumberland Rd, 106th and 106th RAB  next Tuesday (21st) and Wednesday (22nd).  Additionally detail crosswalk work will be completed on Hambel Parkway and Sandstone on the week of the 20th. Proceed with caution through these areas during operations.

Homeowners will be notified via door hangers prior to any curb reconstruction near their home. After ADA ramp and curb reconstruction is completed, those areas will be restored with topsoil and seed. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to water the seed for the seed to germinate. Following concrete operations contractors will begin performing asphalt road resurfacing and additional notices will be provided. Residents will also be notified via street signage for street parking restrictions.
