Mayor Scott Fadness reacts to the Fishers City Council election results

In the aftermath of the Fishers City election, which resulted in two Democrats being elected to the Fishers City Council, I requested a reaction from Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness.  His statement is below:

“I’m sincerely disappointed to lose two great members of our city council. Rich Block has been instrumental in much of our economic development success over the last few years and Eric Moeller has been a strong advocate for neighborhoods in his district.

“Our community is growing and change comes with that. Over the coming weeks I am committed to meeting with incoming councilors Samantha Delong and Jocelyn Vare to discuss ways we can work together to continue the progress in Fishers to be a smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial city.”

  1. Larry, will you ask Scott why he didn’t utilize a decent portion of the $334,000 in his campaign account to help these two? And Joe W., it’s too bad you couldn’t get mayoral candidates against Brainard and Fadness. I don’t think Fadness gets it: government grants/TIFs/abatements/PPPs/subsidies are anathema to entrepreneurship.

    1. Eric, Scott didn’t need to. All the Republican candidates were well funded both by the Indiana GOP. All of the Democrats that ran got 45%+ of the vote despite large deficits in funding. The reason the two won that did is simple, they got out and talked to voters more than anyone else. Myself included.
You are right about the Mayors though. Both have found it easy to be well loved by building shiny new cities overnight without raising taxes. There are a lot of people who realize that isn’t actually possible like you but for most people they barely consider city funding and the details about how these deals happen. We are not a well informed electorate and until we are turnout and our elected officials will reflect that.

  2. Sincerely disappointed Scott Fadness is still mayor. Perhaps the democrats will expose him for the fraud he is.

  3. All you have to do is look at Fadness campaign contributions and see he is a bought and paid for politician. Do a little research he has business owner give and so does that owners wife. Scotty’s own mother gave $500 but a wife from an engineering firm gave $5000. Come on Man. He sold his soul for power to hand out contracts to his handlers. He would do anything just to lick the plate after supper.
