HAMCO Emergency Management on the winter storm

Hamilton County Emergency Management has issued information on the Winter Storm Warning in place for the local area.  First, 5 things to expect in the next couple of days, then some preparedness tips, along with what to do if you need help during the storm:

1. Rain may wash away the salt
2. Flash freeze will create black ice this evening
3. Heavy snow overnight
4. Potential for blizzard conditions overnight through Friday
5. Winds up to 52 mph and wind chills of -33
Preparedness

1. Sign up for Smart911, which is also a special needs registry for those who may need additional assistance – www.smart911.com
2. Make a plan, build a kit, and stay informed – www.ready.gov
Need Help?
1. Only call 911 for life-threatening emergencies
2. Call 211 for warning centers, shelters, or other assistance
3. Find the website for your power provider to monitor progress if there are power outages (for Duke Energy customers, use this link.
