City Council gives unanimous approval to new City Walk development

The Fishers City Council unanimously put its seal of approval on a project agreement for the City Walk development, with a planned location south of 121st Street and west of Technology Lane.

The $75 million project will be located along the Nickel Plate Trail.  Fishers Economic Development Director Megan Baumgartner says there will be a variety of different housing types in this plan, including 87 for-rent multi-family units, 44 town homes for sale, and 101 for-sale condominium units.

Mayor Scott Fadness says the developers “have been very patient with the city as we’ve worked through the vision for this project, and how it fits in our ultimate downtown strategy.”  The mayor says it has taken about a year to make this project happen.

John Tuohy of the Indianapolis Star has written about this project.  You can read his story at this link.

  1. Okay, so this is kind of a big deal. I had a hard time picturing where this is located until I read the Star article. I didn’t realize this deal was in progress, and negotiations were ongoing with the homeowners. Basically, those houses are going to be torn down. As I understand it, this complex will be located in the triangle area just south of the Islamic center northeast of the library and roughly across from the Sunblest Apartments Lantern Rd entrance. This area is getting very crowded… I suppose it looks good on paper, let’s see what it looks like after it’s said and done.

  2. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention – and I have not seen it on this website yet or in any of the city communication – there has been a walkway built between Nickel plate and Lantern road in the last month that is still gravel and hasn’t been paved yet. First, about the month of February and March I noticed that the trees were being torn down, and a couple of weeks later it looked like a connection was being built. Is this being payed for by the city or the Islamic Center that it connects to, I wonder?
