The weekly road construction report for the Fishers area is out early this week to warn motorists of road closures for the Gobblers Jog & Wishbone 4K events. Also, on Monday, November 27th, watch for a sidewalk closing on the northeast side of Municipal Drive and 116th Street. Crews will be installing a new sign for the restaurant using the site that once contained LouVino….the new restaurant set to open in December at that location is Cooper & Cow Steakhouse & Bourbon Lounge.

STATE ROAD 37 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

STATE ROAD 37 AND 141ST STREET
A pre-construction phase at SR 37 & 141st Street is currently in place. During this phase, 141st Street will be a Right-In-Right-Out (RIRO) traffic configuration.
This is not the permanent configuration. This will allow for traffic to flow more freely along SR 37 until the next phases of construction can be activated. This will eliminate backups along SR 37 that have caused dangerous stops to the free flow traffic and backups on the 146th Street interchange. Again, this is not the permanent configuration for 141st Street. The full timeline for the 141st Street interchange will be provided after project bids are accepted in the Spring 2024. I-465 & I-69
Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months. This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Binford Blvd. will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Blvd. will remain open.
In the coming weeks, drivers on WB I-465 can expect to see traffic being shifted onto new pavement between I-69 and Allisonville Road. Traffic will also be shifted onto new pavement for SB I-69 onto WB and SB I-465.
The ramp from 82nd Street to I-69 North is open.

PROJECTS NORTH OF 116TH STREET
146TH STREET & ALLISONVILLE ROAD – HAMILTON COUNTY PROJECT
Phase 2A traffic restrictions are in effect. These restrictions eliminate left turn movements from 146th Street onto Allisonville Road and reopen to two through lanes on eastbound and westbound 146th Street.
Periodic lane closures may be necessary to complete this work. Please watch for flaggers and workers in and around the construction zone. Construction crews are continuing to work on storm sewer installation and roadway grading. Crews are continuing work on the widening of the westbound bridge over the White River. The contractor has installed cofferdams and delineating buoys in the White River for pier construction. The contractor is continuing work on the bridge foundations and substructure units. PROJECTS SOUTH OF 116TH STREET
106TH STREET & HOOSIER ROAD
The intersection of 106th Street and Hoosier Road is currently closed for the construction of a roundabout. Access into and out of the Windermere subdivision will be on Geist Road via Governors Lane. Detour route can be found

Due to utility conflicts and drainage revisions, the city worked with the consultant on record on updating the plans to this intersection. The contractor had to pause work while we work through the design changes and revisions. Currently we are back up and running on construction and the contractor is working as hard as possible to get the roundabout constructed and open to traffic. The 60 days of closure had to be extended to afford the contractor time to finish the work before the weather changes. The schedule for reopening the intersection is currently being refined with the contractor but they have assured us that this intersection will be opened before the end of the year with some cleanup work extending into next spring. We apologize for the inconvenience while we navigate these items with the utilities, Hamilton County Surveryor’s office, the contractor, and our consultant.
PROJECTS ON 116TH STREET
MUNICIPAL DRIVE AND 116th STREETOn Monday, Nov. 27
th, the sidewalk on the northeast corner of Municipal Drive and 116
th Street will be blocked from 9 am to 3 pm to allow a contractor to install an overhead sign at the former LouVino site. For pedestrian traffic heading west on 116
th street, you may cross Municipal Drive and then head north to the Municipal complex.

Road closures will be in place on Thursday, November 23rd between 7a.m and 9:30 a.m. for the Gobblers Jog 5K. Closures will begin at Whitten Park and 134th Street., goes East on 134th Street to Olio, South on Olio in right lane only; north on Pennington; east on 131st; turns around on 131st at Saxons and proceeds west on 131st to Erlen; north on Erlen; proceed around Erlen to end at Whitten Park. WHISHBONE 5K
Road closures will be in place on Thursday, November 24 between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. for the Wishbone 5K. The race begins in the YMCA parking lot, will go south to 126
th street, west on 126
th, around the top of the circle at Lantern, will continue westbound 126
th to Saxons; south on Saxons; west on Ellipse and around Ellipse Circle to Farley Dr., north on Farley south on Turkel Dr., east on Sunblest Blvd to Lantern; south on Lantern to the trail, then north on the trail to the finish at 126

There are many times of the day when there are no safe ways to enter Southbound SR 37 from 141st Street. It is an accident waiting to happen – Avoid this intersection for the next couple of years until Fishers decides to improve it. When there was a light, it was fine. They should have left the light until they built a roundabout, which they could find funding for, and deprioritized to build other items in Fishers at a higher cost. I guess the mayor does not use that intersection and for his concerns, he can say 37 is done and free-flowing.
