HSE school board recognizes 14 National Merit semifinalists

Asst. Supt. Jason Urban talks to National Merit Semifinalists

The Hamilton Southeastern school board recognized 14 high school seniors Wednesday night for being named semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Nine students attend Fishers High School and five attend Hamilton Southeastern High School. The students and their families also gathered for recognition breakfasts at the two schools, according to the district’s board agenda material.

National Merit semifinalists represent less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors. They are among the highest-scoring students in their state on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, known as the PSAT/NMSQT.
