Major Olio Road traffic changes expected Monday as roundabout work advances

Drivers near Southeastern Parkway and Olio Road should prepare for major traffic changes beginning Monday, Oct. 26, as the roundabout reconstruction project moves into its next phase, according to the City of Fishers’ weekly construction update.

Work is expected to continue through the end of the year. During this phase, drivers will be unable to travel directly north or south on Olio Road through the roundabout.

Southbound drivers approaching from the north will be directed west onto Campus Parkway/146th Street. Northbound drivers approaching from the south will detour using 136th Street and the newly constructed connection to Southeastern Parkway.

Eastbound traffic will use the bypass lane toward IU Health Fishers to reach the roundabout at 136th Street. One westbound lane through the Southeastern Parkway–Olio Road roundabout will remain open for travel toward Campus Parkway/146th Street or north onto Olio Road.

The city urges motorists to review the project’s detour maps before traveling. Nearby businesses, hospitals and medical offices will remain accessible.

Elsewhere, 136th Street remains closed to through traffic between Southeastern Parkway and Prairie Baptist Road for widening work. Drivers should follow the signed detour.

Milling and paving at 116th Street and Allisonville Road are complete, but intermittent lane restrictions continue for striping, signal work and restoration. Sidewalks within the construction area remain closed.

Drivers should also expect weekend ClearPath restrictions on southbound I-69 and Binford Boulevard. Saturday, Oct. 24, closures include the ramps from southbound I-69 to westbound I-465 and southbound Binford Boulevard. Southbound I-69 will be reduced to one lane between 96th Street and the interchange.

Other work includes utility relocation at 131st Street and Brooks School Road, lane restrictions on USA Parkway and resurfacing in Springs of Cambridge.

All schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. The city’s full report follows:

Southeastern Parkway & Olio Road Roundabout Improvements

**MAJOR UPDATE BELOW**

Construction is underway on the Southeastern Parkway and Olio Road roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow at one of the region’s busiest intersections.

The fifth leg of the roundabout has permanently closed to traffic.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Major Changes Coming to Olio Road & Southeastern Parkway Roundabout

Phase 2 of the Olio Road & Southeastern Parkway Roundabout Reconstruction Project is expected to begin Monday, October 26, with work anticipated to continue through the end of the year

During this phase, significant traffic restrictions will be in place, including the closure of the roundabout connections used to travel north and south on Olio Road.

What Drivers Need to Know:

  • Southbound Olio Road: Drivers approaching the roundabout from the north will NOT be able to continue south through the roundabout. Traffic will be directed west onto Campus Parkway/146th Street. Drivers needing to travel south on Olio Road or east on Southeastern Parkway should plan an alternate route.
  • Northbound Olio Road: Drivers traveling north toward the roundabout will need to detour using 136th Street and the newly constructed connection to Southeastern Parkway. From there, drivers can continue east on Southeastern Parkway or use the roundabout at 136th Street and Southeastern Parkway to turn around and head west or north.
  • Eastbound Traffic: Drivers traveling east through the area will need to use the bypass lane toward IU Health Fishers to reach the roundabout at 136th Street. From there, drivers can continue along 136th Street, access southbound Olio Road using the new connection, or cross Olio Road to continue East on Southeastern Parkway.
  • Westbound Traffic: One lane through the roundabout will remain open for drivers traveling west toward Campus Parkway/146th Street or north on Olio Road. For westbound drivers who are attempting to proceed south, they will need to do so by accessing the connector road just east of the SE and Olio Roundabout and following posted detour signs.
