Olio Road detours, 116th Street restrictions highlight Fishers road report

Major detours at Southeastern Parkway and Olio Road continue to affect Fishers drivers, while holiday light installation will bring additional lane restrictions on 116th Street Nov. 2-3, according to the city’s weekly road construction report.

Phase two of the Southeastern Parkway and Olio Road roundabout reconstruction remains underway, with work anticipated to continue through the end of the year. Drivers cannot travel directly north or south on Olio Road through the roundabout.

Southbound traffic approaching from the north is directed west onto Campus Parkway/146th Street. Northbound drivers approaching from the south must detour using 136th Street and the new connection to Southeastern Parkway. The roundabout’s fifth leg has permanently closed.

Nearby businesses, hospitals and medical offices remain accessible. Drivers should review the detour maps in the report below before traveling through the area.

At 116th Street and Allisonville Road, milling and paving are complete, but intermittent lane restrictions continue for striping, traffic signal work and restoration. Sidewalks within the project area remain closed, and businesses remain accessible.

On Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 2-3, Department of Public Works crews will install holiday lights on street trees along 116th Street between Fishers Center Drive and Lantern Road. The work will require intermittent closures of the right lanes in both directions.

Other work includes a detour on 136th Street between Southeastern Parkway and Prairie Baptist Road, continuing restrictions on USA Parkway north of 106th Street, and possible periodic lane restrictions for utility relocation at 131st Street and Brooks School Road.

Resurfacing crews also will continue working in Springs of Cambridge during the week of Nov. 2.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. The complete report, including detour maps and additional project updates, follows below:

Southeastern Parkway & Olio Road Roundabout Improvements

**MAJOR UPDATE BELOW**

Construction is underway on the Southeastern Parkway and Olio Road roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow at one of the region’s busiest intersections.

The fifth leg of the roundabout has permanently closed to traffic.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Major Changes Coming to Olio Road & Southeastern Parkway Roundabout

Phase 2 of the Olio Road & Southeastern Parkway Roundabout Reconstruction Project is ongoing. With work anticipated to continue through the end of the year

During this phase, significant traffic restrictions will be in place, including the closure of the roundabout connections used to travel north and south on Olio Road.

What Drivers Need to Know:

  • Southbound Olio Road: Drivers approaching the roundabout from the north will NOT be able to continue south through the roundabout. Traffic will be directed west onto Campus Parkway/146th Street. Drivers needing to travel south on Olio Road or east on Southeastern Parkway should plan an alternate route.
  • Northbound Olio Road: Drivers traveling north toward the roundabout will need to detour using 136th Street and the newly constructed connection to Southeastern Parkway. From there, drivers can continue east on Southeastern Parkway or use the roundabout at 136th Street and Southeastern Parkway to turn around and head west or north.
  • Eastbound Traffic: Drivers traveling east through the area will need to use the bypass lane toward IU Health Fishers to reach the roundabout at 136th Street. From there, drivers can continue along 136th Street, access southbound Olio Road using the new connection, or cross Olio Road to continue East on Southeastern Parkway.
  • Westbound Traffic: One lane through the roundabout will remain open for drivers traveling west toward Campus Parkway/146th Street or north on Olio Road. For westbound drivers who are attempting to proceed south, they will need to do so by accessing the connector road just east of the SE and Olio Roundabout and following posted detour signs.
