Dan Canan withdraws as candidate for Northeast City Council seat

I recently wrote that two former mayors would be vying for a seat on the Fishers City Council, but a Tuesday withdrawal changes all that.

Former Muncie Mayor Dan Canan had filed as a Republican candidate for the Northeast District council seat, but, according to the Hamilton County Election office, Mr. Canan has decided to withdraw his candidacy in the Republican primary.  The withdrawal comes shortly after incumbent Northeast Councilor Brad DeReamer, also a Republican, announced a change of heart, deciding to run for another term after previously saying he would not be a candidate in 2023.

DeReamer is a former mayor of Greenfield.
