ISP seeks dashcam video after fatal I-69 hit-and-run in Fishers

Indiana State Police are asking drivers to preserve dashcam footage as troopers investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 69 in Fishers.

Emergency dispatchers began receiving calls around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, about a man lying near a van on the right shoulder of northbound I-69, just south of Exit 210.

First responders found 36-year-old Gregory S. Christopher II of Parker City. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates Christopher’s van had a flat tire and that he was outside the vehicle working on it when a northbound vehicle struck him, police said. The driver did not remain at the scene.

Investigators believe the van may have been stopped along the interstate for nearly 45 minutes before the first 911 calls were received.

Police are seeking footage from vehicles traveling north or south on I-69 near mile marker 209 between 8:45 and 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said video could contain valuable evidence even if it did not capture the crash or the vehicle involved.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact Indiana State Police at 317-899-8577.
