What should Hamilton East Public Library’s next branch offer the community? A new building on Olio Road is moving forward, and library leaders want residents to help shape what goes inside—and outside—its walls.

Library Director Melissa Loiselle and Assistant Director Molly Mrozowski join me on this edition of the LarryInFishers podcast to discuss the planned third location and the financial questions facing the library system.

The branch would serve the growing eastern portion of the library district, with a location on Olio Road between 146th and 156th streets in Wayne Township. Loiselle says the goal is to break ground in spring 2027 and open in 2028, although infrastructure work could affect that schedule.

We discuss why that location was selected, how the project would be financed and what residents might find there. Possibilities include outdoor activity spaces, a drive-up materials pickup service and a space for creative projects. Mrozowski explains how a smaller branch could carry forward the service residents expect from the Fishers and Noblesville libraries.

Both guests emphasize the importance of public input, including ideas from teenagers. Residents can share suggestions at the library’s September 22 community input session in Fishers, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Our conversation also explores the library’s role in providing internet access. Mrozowski discusses how federal E-Rate support helps cover eligible internet and equipment costs, and both guests explain their concerns about possible funding changes.
