Drivers who use one of Fishers’ busiest intersections should prepare for overnight work beginning next month.

The City of Fishers says crews are expected to begin milling and resurfacing at and around the intersection of 116th Street and Allisonville Road on or after Oct. 5. The work is part of the ongoing 116th Street and Allisonville Road Improvement Project.

City officials say the paving is anticipated to take place overnight and span several nights. Exact work hours and additional scheduling details are still being finalized and will be released as they become available.

Motorists should anticipate temporary lane restrictions and traffic shifts while the work is underway. The city says access to area businesses will be maintained throughout construction.

As with all road work, the schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

The paving marks one of the final major phases of a project that has been underway since April. Construction started the week of April 13 and has been scheduled to continue through late October.

The intersection improvements look different than what was first proposed. The city originally planned a roundabout at 116th and Allisonville, then shifted course in 2025 in favor of a traditional signalized intersection. The revised design calls for extended left-turn lanes in all directions, replacement of sidewalks and ADA ramps, and upgraded traffic signal equipment at three intersections along the corridor so the signals communicate with one another.

The intersection has remained open during construction, though drivers have dealt with lane shifts, lane restrictions and slower travel times, particularly during the morning and evening rush.

The project is part of the larger Allisonville Road Corridor Revitalization effort in the Nickel Plate District area.
